Thank you for all the years of Community discussions and activity!

The time has come for us to retire the community forums, but we will keep everything available for reading. There is a lot of valuable content written over the years, and you'll be able to access all of that. However, no new posts can be written, or old posts modified.

If you have questions, we recommend you use the Support function on the bottom right corner to contact our Customer Support directly.

Alternatively, if you wish to engage in a community discussion with other people, there are many active forums available. There is also an active, fan managed GENELEC COMMUNITY in Facebook, and many Genelec employees are active in the discussions there.

We are sorry for any possible inconvenience this may cause you, but we hope to hear from you through the other channels mentioned above.

Hi Ilkka

I have two questions:

1- I was wondering where digital to analog conversion happens in 1234; before the amp or in the drive?
Some brands like Steinway Lyngdorf and Meridian highlight in drive conversion as a main feature. :ugeek:

2- in 1034B manual Harmonic distortion value at 50....200 HZ is mention to be less than 1% while in 1234 manual the same parameter is less than 3% .
Does it mean that 1234 is producing less clear sound than it's grandfather?

If you are feeding the system with a digital signal, then the only D/A conversion happens right before the power amplifiers. There is too little information and way too much marketing about the Steinway Lyngdorf system available but it looks to be performing exactly the same. "In drive" D/A conversation doesn't mean anything.

That is an error! Than you for noticing it. Obviously they have identical distortion specifications.
