8351 + Sub = Improve Mids?

Youngling Viestejä: 14 Liittymispäivä: 21.7.2018 Viimeisimmät viestit

Hi,

I would want to know if adding a 7350 / 7360 sub to a pair of 8351 further improve its Mids clarity / imaging / performance for music application as some of the low frequency would be handled by the sub.

My purpose is to further improve the speaker Mids performance not to extend the LF frequency.

Or it would not because 8351 is a 3 way, the Coaxial transducer is already an independent transducer of itself.

If it does improve the Mids, would 7350 more than enough to do the job instead of 7360?

I'm listening at 0.5m distance @ less than 100db in a small room.

Thanks

i tested 7370 with my 8351.

I found it detrimental.

8351 has such sharp imaging that the damage the sub does to directionality was not acceptable for me.

more exactly: hiphop, techno got better for listening distance > 2m, classical always got worse.

i do think that 2 subs, one directly underneath or behind each 8351 might work well.

if you don't have acoustic treatment in your room:

this comes first, straightening out bass response is more important than subs.

it's more work to implement and not as pretty as 2 new subs, but what can you do...

AND IT'S GOOD TO HEAR THAT YOU'RE LSITENING AT LESS THAN 100DB BECAUSE THAT'S RATHER LOUD.

what all caps are for the internetz.

Thanks for sharing ur experience.

My room is not acoustically treated, probably adding 2 subs would add more problem rather than improving the Mids.

To be exact I'm listening at less than 90dB most of the time.

yeah, acoustics is next for you.

maybe 2-3m3 bass absorbers, 4-8m2 foam absorbers.

in the studio you'd do more diffusion, at home I'd suggest top absorbtion.

Do u mean Top absorbtion = ceiling?

nope, I meant high frequency absorption.

Any acoustic treatment is either for bass or mid-high.

bass traps measure in m3, while high frequencies are tame enough for m2 ;)

you should probably do high frequency absorption in the 1st order reflection points.

Bass absorption in the corners.

I can give you advice here, but if you're interested do some googling, there's heaps of info out there.

just know, that contrary to the studio resources you'll find, you at home probably want more high frequency absorption than usual,

makes the sound warmer.
