Thank you for all the years of Community discussions and activity!

The time has come for us to retire the community forums, but we will keep everything available for reading. There is a lot of valuable content written over the years, and you'll be able to access all of that. However, no new posts can be written, or old posts modified.

If you have questions, we recommend you use the Support function on the bottom right corner to contact our Customer Support directly.

Alternatively, if you wish to engage in a community discussion with other people, there are many active forums available. There is also an active, fan managed GENELEC COMMUNITY in Facebook, and many Genelec employees are active in the discussions there.

We are sorry for any possible inconvenience this may cause you, but we hope to hear from you through the other channels mentioned above.

Room size advice

Hi all :)

I got a set of 6x8030A's and a 7060B for the sub and they have served me really well over the years as my home theatre and gaming PC surround setup (hooked to onkyo pr-sc5508 prepro). Mounted them on a set of standard microphone stands to get them to the necessary height, no problems.

But now, I'm starting a design phase of building my own residence and me and the wife pretty early decided that we want to stuff all that to a dedicated AV room and keep the rest of the house TV free.

I googled around but couldn't find some solid advice for the internal dimensions of a room for these specific monitors, or what ratio should the room be for HT use? I'm not building a 'proper' HT with several rows of seats, I just want to replicate the current setup with one sofa for 3 people and the speakers in a proper distance and angle from the primary position.

I'm thinking about surface mount the speakers to the studs and do a double-wall for noise insulation from the rest of the house. Then throw in rugs and perhaps build a diffuser to get closer to a natural sounding room.

Primary viewing (head) position would be around 2m from the TV surface.
