could GLM calibrate dual subwoofer simultaneously?

Padawan Viestejä: 46 Liittymispäivä: 11.9.2018 Viimeisimmät viestit

Hey guys,

I plan to buy 2*7380 woofers for my home theater, just came to mind that dual woofers should be calibrated at the same time if I want to use this method to elimate room modes(both making the exact same sound), however according to my expierence we can only calibrate one monitor at a time, so do you have expierence about this dual woofer calibration?

Thanks!

you don't have to calibrate at the same time.

first one, then the other.

you calibrate the left sub to be in phase with the left speaker, the right sub with the right speaker, the software will guide you.

each sub will get seperate EQ for its room position.

dual sub is for room mode elimination, remove peaks and nulls/smooth LF response curve, the subs must make exactly the same sound to achieve this.

And it is not linear so separate eq would not give us the desired results.

hmm,

i don't think you can eliminate room modes with several subwoofers.

what you can do, is use several subs in several positions. each will produce slightly different results, together the reult is more even.

still the way would be to calibrate each sub for its own position.

multi sub same signal to treat room modes is not a new thing, you can check Dr.Floyd Toole's book, there is a whole chapter talking about it:)

I know ilkka-rissanen is very familiar with subwoofer tests, since you work for genelec now do you mind to help me on this question?

Thanks
