Digital? Analog? Big or little. Upgrade advice

Youngling Viestejä: 2 Liittymispäivä: 19.10.2018 Viimeisimmät viestit

Hello everybody, this is my first message here.

Actually I have two minimal studios:

One small (10 sq.m) with 8020+7040, so all analog routing out of the ADI-2 pro as ADAC.

Another bigger (25 sq.m) with 8320A+7350 and GLM, this digital setup is hybrid cause the 8320 don’t have AES input. The DAC is an RME ADI-2fs whose work is in fact canceled by

the double conversion (interface D-A, 8320A another A-D-A).

Both rooms are quite good and the correction is light (+/- 6db).

In both studios I wish something bigger.

For the analog one I’m wandering if the M series, 030 or 040

have the same performance/reference response of the 8000 series.

For the second, bigger, the upgrade to the 8330 with AES input could be significant?

Thanks, have a nice day

Hello, and welcome to the Community Forum. I'm sorry for late reply.

Concidering upgrade to digital is definitely something to concider, if you have not yet tried. Many of Genelec users like to use Digital over Analog.

M-series are discontinued, but you may be able to find them 2nd handed. If you would like to have a significant upgrade, I would recommend even to take a look at our 3-way monitors such as 8341A:

Have you been able to visit any Genelec dealer yet, or would our Distributor be near your living place, where you could actually go listen our monitors before purchasing?

You can find our distributors from link below:

Hello Jani, thanks for the reply.

There is one Genelec distributor in Rome that I well know. I will ask for a test with the 8341A (or 31A also), but I’m sure they are beautiful. The problem is a bit 'this damn budget but I will make a madness. Various Genelecs they have been with me for over 10 years without one problem, so I go straight.

All the best
