Balancing volume on 8020d's

Youngling Viestejä: 2 Liittymispäivä: 23.5.2019 Viimeisimmät viestit

Just got a pair of 8020d's as an upgrade to my 8010's and have a bit of an issue.  The speakers are about 2m from the nearest wall/corner and both 2m from my ears.  One of the speakers seems quite a bit louder than the other, i.e. I have the sensitivity on one on max and the other on about -3 to balance the volume.  It's not a positioning issue as I've swapped them over (leaving all cables etc the same) and it's always the same speaker that is louder.  My 8010's seemed balanced with both sensitivity controls set the same.

Is this normal, or does it sound like a potential fault?

Edit - Just ran some tests using a sine wave full range signal and dB meter and this confirms my ears arent on the way out :)

Speaker1 Ave 76.6dB MAx 84.1dB

Speaker2 Ave 81.0dB Max 92.4dB

Hi Anders

Thanks for the reply and just to report back.  The fault was with my monitor controller (Mackie big knob passive), Ive taken it out of the chain as I rarely use my second monitors and all is fine :)
