SAM Subwoofer in small studio

Hello all (first post!)

I have a dilemma!

I recently purchased the 8330As for my home studio... I shall receive them this week but in the meantime, my local music store lent me the 8030s which are phenomenal.

Given I am in a less than acoustically ideal home studio the GLM software is the main selling point for me..

The music I write (Broken Beat, Future Soul, House, Hip Hop, Beats etc..) has quite a lot of low-frequency information so whilst the 8330A are amazing, I'm thinking of also getting a 7350A Sub... my question is this..

How effective is the GLM software in calibrating a 2.1 SAM system in a small room (4m x 3m x 2.5m)?

No doubt the nearfield calibration will be great but as the sub will likely be under my studio desk or fairly close to me so not sure if it's worth it.

Btw - A track I'm releasing that was produced on the Genelecs translated well to a studio I'm using for mixing/mastering. I was able to continue the mixdown sessions at home trusting the speakers which is amazing (and I haven't even received the SAM model yet!).

*I have searched and not found a similar thread so apologies if this has been discussed...

Thank you!

Well, the worse the room, the bigger the GLM difference.

If the sub will work is hard to tell, placing a sub well can be hard. sometimes it's trial and error. There are many resources on the net on this topic.

If you need the bass extension, you should probably try.
