Thank you for all the years of Community discussions and activity!

The time has come for us to retire the community forums, but we will keep everything available for reading. There is a lot of valuable content written over the years, and you'll be able to access all of that. However, no new posts can be written, or old posts modified.

If you have questions, we recommend you use the Support function on the bottom right corner to contact our Customer Support directly.

Alternatively, if you wish to engage in a community discussion with other people, there are many active forums available. There is also an active, fan managed GENELEC COMMUNITY in Facebook, and many Genelec employees are active in the discussions there.

We are sorry for any possible inconvenience this may cause you, but we hope to hear from you through the other channels mentioned above.

Additive (boosting) EQ for GLM?

Youngling Viestejä: 2 Liittymispäivä: 28.8.2016 Viimeisimmät viestit

GLM 3.0 (newest version in 2019-07-24) has 20 EQ filters available. #1–2 are highpass without Q, #3 is highpass with boosting (max +3dB) or substractive without Q, #4 is lowpass without Q (#3 and #4 are used also by the Sound Character Profiler), #5–20 are parametric with Q but only subtractive, boosting is not possible. But in order to fix the EQ to my liking (the graph helps but mostly by ear, manually), like I would do in a DAW software, I would need the possibility to do the #5–20 with boosting allowed when necessary. (In case there is danger for clipping, it could automatically compensate by reducing total volume.)

Why is there no possiblity for boosting (except for #3 which doesn't solve the problem)? Is there any chance boosting would be supported in the next version? That would really help a lot! It's not possible to fix my EQ with subtractions only, I tried.

Thanks a lot!

I noticed you can boost #17 #18 #19 #20 but it wont record...  you CONFIRM SETTINGS but it loses the settings.

Would like to know WHY also.

Yes, this is normal, Genelec don't want to risk loosing the headroom.

Another reason is, that you cannot fill a null in your room, no matter how much energy you put it.

It's somewhat conservative, but they're not wrong.
