stereo subwoofer based on 2x7040a

Greetings! Please help, I want to make a stereo system based on two 7040a subwoofers connected as stereo. I understand that the 7050b sounds deeper, but 2x7050b already requires more than 2x8040b, and this is a completely different budget .. ((
the goal is to enjoy music, sometimes experimenting in ableton. interface rme baby face. headphones AKG K812.   there are reasons to have exactly two subwoofers in the system!
The question is,

1. which monitors will sound with them more balanced at 2x8020d or 2x8030c? Including the maximum allowable volume

2. What problems may arise? Room 80m2, ceilings 6m. Not drowned out at all, but there is furniture.

3. The budget alternative is 8040b, but I'm just sure that sub bass will be enough for me ((. I had Adam a8x — I want to forget them like a bad dream, I once found myself thinking that cheap little multimedia + sub sound for me on a spectrum more complete than a8x !!! Yes, not so detailed, but somehow more natural and dense.

Thank you very much for your attention and for Genelec! Sincerely, Alexander.

See the In-Room Product Performance Guides and Step-by-Step Setup Guide. Note, room size is volume, not surface area, but staring at that alone you might be, well, a bit f.....rustrated. 480 m^3 ... Uh-oh. The model/distance/SPL figures are the more interesting bit.

I'm not affiliated with Genelec, these are my opinions.

The first thing that strikes me is that you're trying to climb the tree ass-backwards. Get the monitors you need, then supplement them with a sub - right away or later on.

Two tiny subs is a bad idea, they might even cancel each other out - just one 7050 does more for the whole picture. Still, your room is huge - how far will you be from the monitors and how loud do you want to go? These are very, very important numbers. Those charts in the tech library are very accurate.

Consider SAM monitors with one SAM sub, they pack a bit more short-term punch and you'll get room correction and easily adjustable crossover frequencies. If you're afraid of "hearing the sub", get at least 8330's and set the crossover frequency considerably lower than standard.

i concur with janne-koo on the "ass-backwards" part.

don't concur with advice against dual subs. 2 tobs, 2 subs emulating two full range spakers helps a realistic soundstage.

going for 7350 as janne-koo implies is a good idea, but yeah, first geht the best tops you can afford.

actually i'd recommend used 1037B or 1037C. Much more musical than anything on you list and subs would be a distant afterthought.

To clarify on my thoughts of two subs, that was for this particular case of 2x7040 (which are just obviously way too small) vs. something else, but in any case, dual subs would need to be set up with utmost care - I'd only ever go that route with SAM+GLM (or comparable technology).

Dropping the crossover frequency helps immensely with the soundstage, 85 Hz is just too high for a single sub.
With two 8330's and one 7350 (yeah, you got me there), 70 Hz seems to be a good starting point. For some setups (under desk sub for one example), even different crossover frequencies for monitors and sub(s) may be beneficial.

Those 1037's, not many for sale, worldwide. Fabulous idea though, they probably have the oomph for a small hall. I've only heard the 1237's and those once, briefly. They were ... well, loud, very loud, and maybe just a bit awesome.

Fun fact:

1037 is way warmer, more musical than 1237. i guess the class D amps come with undesireable side effects.

regarding crossover, i concur that 85 is too high in many scenarios, "hiding" the crossover in a dip in the room's response is often a good solution.

also, I have a pair of 1237s for sale ;)
