8330a - clipping/distortion when DAC input too high

Youngling Viestejä: 10 Liittymispäivä: 23.11.2019 Viimeisimmät viestit

Hello,

I just recently purchased a pair of 8330a's. I'm hooking them up to a SMSL SU-8 DAC via balanced XLR analogue (with a XLR splitter on each channel). When I set the DAC to max output, I get significant distortion and clipping on the speakers. I wouldn't expect this as the DAC max output is rated to 4vRMS and these speakers should take up to 12 vRMS. I have to turn down the DAC volume by around -6 db before it gets better. Any idea what's going on?

Nevermind, I figured it out. The DAC was clipping because of the split outputs. Thanks.
