GLM + Ultracurve a way to further refine my monitoring situation.

I spent the weekend with my new GLM kit and ageing 8250s trying to optimize my monitoring situation. I've moved the speakers different distances from the walls, used different stands, taken the table away from in front etc.. many combinations have been tried, but I'm not convinced by the results. I may be overthinking that I can get any better. A friend suggested buying an ultracurve and putting that between my PC and the 8250s. (I'm running AES from an RME soundcard), and making some adjustments on the ultracurve to further flatten the current reponse. My room is reasonably well treated. Broadband absorbers to the sides, above and front wall. Triangluar floor to ceiling absorbers in the corners.

is this something anyone else has tried? Is it even worth it? Looking at the response curves there's some pretty hideous looking dips going on. Perhaps the 8250s don't have enough EQ points to fully compensate?

Appreciate any replies.

haven't tried ultracurve

GLM EQ never adds, only takes away. Foor good reasons.

And it seems it doesn't touch anything above 500Hz. Proably for a reason too. My newer speakers don't use half their filters.

You can also try an EQ on your soundcard rather than hardware. On PC there's eg. Peace Equalizer.

And for better results I'd also try relaxing GLM's suggestions a bit, rather than trying to be even flatter.
