Why when you switch plug on the speakers are already powered

Youngling Viestejä: 4 Liittymispäivä: 7.5.2020 Viimeisimmät viestit

Hi

Is it normal for the speaker Genelec 8020 to be fully powered on when you switch on at wall mains ?
I mean there are switches on back
Anyway of setting them so they are off till you press those switches at back ?

Problem I have is when I switch my laptop and audio card on ....and off it makes loud bangs and pops
Will this damage the speaker the surge ?

Should they not be powered off till you actually press the switch on the back ?

thanks

most people turn on the speakers with wall mains/signal sensing, that is totally allright.

Bang from the souncard when turning on is usually not too bad.
Most people have a volume control knob on the soundcard or after the soundcard, so they usually only get 50% bang.

Full bang from a soundcard to speakers that are also set to full volume is a bit much.

great thanks for that and yes when powered on at wall socket they power up which I found unusual as most equip you have to switch on after mains
now I got to work out how to get the 7040 subwoofer muted when i do not want it on ....seems impossible ?

look for the bypass switch.

it's the only jack connector, like headphones, all other connectors are XLR
