Alternatively, if you wish to engage in a community discussion with other people, there are many active forums available. There is also an active, fan managed GENELEC COMMUNITY in Facebook, and many Genelec employees are active in the discussions there.

8331s with 7350A Subwoofer or 8341s with NO SUB

Youngling Viestejä: 0 Liittymispäivä: 21.9.2020 Viimeisimmät viestit

Hi Genelec Music Producers,

I produce EDM Music (Trance, Psytrance, House).

My room size is 3.8m (Length) x 3.1m (Width) x 2.7m (Height) = 53m3

Does any one have experience with any of these combos?

Should I go with:

Option 1: 2 x 8331s with 7350A Subwoofer (with GLM Kit)

Will 7350A Sub calibrate properly with the 8331s?

or

Option 2: 2 x 8341s (with GLM)

I have already read this guide: https://www.genelec.com/correct-monitors

I just want personal opinions/expert mixing/mastering and technical opinions.

Regards,

Andrew

Out of personal experience, I'd rather go with 8330's + 7350 (which I have and chose to keep) than just the pair of 8341's (I had on loan for a while); I'm sure the 8331's will be excellent, if the single input is not a concern.

You'll miss way too much of the lows without a sub, mixes might become bottom-heavy and/or unpredictable. The 7350 will most probably go flat down to 20 Hz when calibrated and is perfect for 2 x 833x's. With 8341's, you'd need a bigger sub to match the output, which would be the only reason to go with bigger monitors - with your room size, I wouldn't.
