Thank you for all the years of Community discussions and activity!

The time has come for us to retire the community forums, but we will keep everything available for reading. There is a lot of valuable content written over the years, and you'll be able to access all of that. However, no new posts can be written, or old posts modified.

If you have questions, we recommend you use the Support function on the bottom right corner to contact our Customer Support directly.

Alternatively, if you wish to engage in a community discussion with other people, there are many active forums available. There is also an active, fan managed GENELEC COMMUNITY in Facebook, and many Genelec employees are active in the discussions there.

We are sorry for any possible inconvenience this may cause you, but we hope to hear from you through the other channels mentioned above.

GLM compatibility with Apple Silicon

Apple has announced transition from Intel silicon to in-house silicon. I hope that you have noticed this and work for supporting new macs will be started immediately after 64-bit version of GLM has been released.

In light of support Catalina as Beta when already exist next major version (BigSur - 11/2020), it takes another year or two when Genelec R&B release version to M1 (Apple Silicon). Speakers are great but development at Genelec simply weak, from client perspective.

Actually, Big Sur and the M1 are insignificant changes compared to dropping 32-bit support (and lots of legacy stuff with it) in Catalina, which I still consider a bad and unnecessary move from Apple (but of course there are strong arguments for it, too). Rosetta2 x86 emulation should work fine for GLM, even native M1 support is likely to be just a matter of recompiling, once the toolkit is up to date (ie. with GLM4). Sure, there's some USB stuff, but no funky kernel extensions etc...
