can i close port genelec 8351a?

hello.

at first, sorry about my bad english.

well... genelec 8351a have a port.

it is good.

but if use big sealed subwoofer, port close(main speaker) is the better for very low frequency.

group delay and port noise. etc...

but i worry about temperature.

It will be used lower than the limit. just 90-95dB?

port close is ok?

Hi!

Closing the port is not ok and not suggested. When used with Genelec subwoofers, the system can be run with bass management, that filters out low frequencies from the main speakers. This greatly improves the overall performance and enables the main speakers to play louder also.

hello.

i know that.

best is genelec main + subwoofer.

but, i have a other subwoofer and dsp. (not genelec)

and genelec 8351a is good for 40hz.

so i want use 35hz crossover,

i think port close is good for that.

but i worry about temperature.

if i close port 8351a,
Is temperature a problem? (i mean, the heat sink or pcb will not breathe and the temperature will go up.

Is that a problem?)

Hi,

Closing the reflex port is not suggested, and will void the warranty. Closing the port will cause the amplifier to heat more, and therefore in a long run it can cause damage and is not recommended.

Do you have a GLM?
