I have a pair of 8010a's and a 7040a. I am considering upgrading to 8320a. Are these compatible or would I also need to upgrade my sub?

Hi,

Theoretically speaking you can use them together, but to benefit from fully AutoCal calibrated system, I would recommend to update the subwoofer as well to 7350A or 7360A model. That way the whole system will be GLM controlled and calibrated.

No, they have same default (maximum) input sensitivity, -6 dBu input for 100 dB SPL output.
