Updating 7.1 to Atmos

I have a 7.1 surround system with three 8030s in front, four 8020s in surround and a 7070 sub. My room is rather small, 2,8 m wide, 3,6 m deep and 2,7 m high. I'd like to update to Atmos 7.1.4 and I have a couple of questions. My current system is nicely overqualified for the room as far as sound pressure levels go so I'm only interested in the sound quality.

1) I have a pair of M040s that I could move to my home theater. Which would sound better?
- my current setup, unified sound with 8000-series speakers
- three M040s in front with four 8030s in the surround, bigger speakers but M-series mixed with 8000-series

2) Would 8010s suffice as the ceiling speakers in both abovementioned options? They would be the nicest looking (and cheapest) option. I suppose there isn't much low end in the ceiling channels so the silly balance between 8010s 2,7 m high and a 7070 on the floor might work. If it doesn't I could just tell the processor that the ceiling speakers are full range so the bass wouldn't be redirected to the sub.

I have simular size room with 7x G4 (8040) and 4 x G3 (8030) for Height channels.
Very good combination for Atmos and DTS-X

I would stay in the same line of speakers.

Hi, could you please tell us what kind of pre/pros do use to run Atmos with your lovely home series Genelec speakers.

Kind regards

I decided to take the leap of faith and got a Marantz SR6011, moved the M040s to the home theater, got a third M040 for the center, moved 8030s to surround positions (currently 6.1, not perfect but 7.1 doesn't make much sense in my room) and moved the 8020s to the ceiling. Maybe the 8030s and 8020s are a bit overkill for their positions in this room but the M040s and the 7070 are just perfect and now I don't have to change speakers when I eventually get a bigger room for my home theater. Atmos feels like mobile phones felt years ago. First I wasn't sure if the wow-effect was as strong as I was hoping for, but a couple of movies later I can't imagine settling for less. :)

Sorry for late response, not frequent visitor to this forum and my home cinema unfortunately.

I use a Marantz 8802A unit. Sub is a hts4.
Really sounds good in my dedicated ht room. But my family life changed with my now 4 year old daughter. So i view some half child movies with her more than movies alone.
