SAM Monitors Without Autocal

Youngling Viestejä: 5 Liittymispäivä: 16.4.2009 Viimeisimmät viestit
Hi,

I'm interested in buying large Genelec for a living room, and I already have a MiniDSP DRC22D with calibrated mic. and was interested in buying a pair of 8260 or 8351. (I owned 8050, there are too small for my needs, and other 3 ways Genelecs doesn't aesthetically suit for a living-room).

The SAM serie has a AES/EBU input, do this serie have another specific advantages compaired to the "classic serie 80xx" if we don't get Autocal/GLM ? (I intend to use the DSP software I already own and know).

Thx

Hi, I understand your question but then again there isn't identical classic series model available. There is no 8051 or 8060. :)

But when it comes to for example 8050 and 8350, there are big differences beyond GLM/AutoCal, for example the amplifiers and the whole signal processing which are totally different.

Hi,
Thanks for your answer. Sadly, some specs of the amplifiers were indicated on some late model's White papers (8050A...SNR, THD, etc.) and aren't any more for the earlyest models (8250, 5350, 8351, 8260)... I didn't see any of these specs for the inside operations of the DAC neither... Thus I find difficult to imagine wich models would be the best choise for managing 24/96 files, and what difference I would hear on my monitors between HD materials and usual 16/44 kHz files, for a direct AES/EBU connection and signal pathway.

Hello,

Models having 96 kHz internal sampling rate are the 8351 and 8260. You should select either one of those models if you want a tweeter bandwidth extension up to 40 kHz.
