I see that the 8300 series has replaced the 8200 series, and one of the changes is the transition to class D amplification. I realize that this design can be more efficient than class AB, but that RF generation can be a concern.

How has this been addressed in the 8300 series? Specifically the 8340 and 8350 models.

Hi Mark,

Thank you for your question.

RF emissions have been taken care at the beginning of the design process. PCB schematics and layouts are carefully designed to create the cleanest audio with low RF emissions. Products which include Class D amplifier also include additional EMC filtering.

Nowadays it is hard to find products without any switching technologies: computers, laptops, TVs, smart phones, energy saving light bulbs etc. are all potential RF radiation sources.

All Genelec products are thoroughly tested and certified by a world leading certification company.

Would the Class D Amp remove the speaker "hiss" when the speaker is turned on? Or simply lower the interference values of other frequencies.

Class D amplifier itself does not effect to the self noise of the monitor, it is a result of the total design. But I can tell you that for example the new 8340 is much much quieter (self noise) compared to the older 8240 model. :)
