Genelec monitors - Frequency response graph Smoothing?

Hi,

I've been using a pair of 8030As for a while and they are great nearfield monitors. I love the fidelity and efficiency.

Recently I started wondering if there's any smoothing applied to the frequency response graph in the manual, as it seems there are some spikes in higher frequency range (above 2k).

It don't know if it's to do with my room acoustics, but to my ears there's something peculiar with Genelec monitors, particularly regarding the reproduction of sound in higher frequency range. My room is fairly treated with lots of mid-density glasswool panels all round the walls and ceiling, with diffusers attatched to the back wall.

Hi,

We don't use any smoothing in our frequency response graphs. Have you measured your in-room frequency response or is it just your subjective evaluation?

Hi IIkka,

Thanks for your answer. No I haven't measured the room acoustics. The above impressions are totally my subjective evaluation.

While these nearfields have amazing fidelity, sometimes they seem very sensitive to room acoustics and source material (which of course are good thing). I just wonder what makes they sound in this way.
