Setup For A Very Small Room (House Music)

Hi Guys,

I currently have a very small room (3m x 2m) with my desk against the 3m wall. This is currently untreated however I have no issues with bass cancellation, possibly due to having a slanted ceiling. My KRK RP6s have served me well over the last 8 years or so however as I am now a lot more serious about the quality of my mixing (House music) I think it is time to upgrade.

My issue at the moment is around low end definition and working deep basses and kicks in my mixes. I have done lots of research and have made the decision to go with a 2.1 setup as I will need a sub to manage the low-end needed for the genre.

After looking at the product selection tool it would appear that either M030 or 8020c with the 7050B sub is going to be my best option. I am leaning towards the M030 at the moment however would appreciate any thoughts from the experts on here :D

Thanks in advance.
Andy

After a lengthy conversation with the Genelec product expert at Source Distribution I have opted for the 8020c and 7040a combination. Can't wait to hear them :D

Hey Ilkka,

Just got everything through and set up now. First impressions are very good indeed! Even before I had the sub hooked up I couldn't believe how good the 8020s sounded, they make a lot of noise for such a small size and everything is so clear.

Took me an hour or so to get the 7040 setup and find a good balance with the monitors. I reckon I'll be making constant tweaks to the positioning and level as I get used to the setup over the next few weeks but already I can tell this is going to be very good decision :D
