Earthed vs. unearthed mains supply

Hi,

I'm planning to purchase a pair of Genelecs (likely 8020C or GTwo or Three) as second sound source for our new home (i.e., for strictly "home stereo" application), along with a Gennie sub (maybe the FTwo for certain practicaly reasons), but the new home where I will be moving is of an older type and, to what I know, only has unearthed mains supply. Or at leat the circuit in the room where the units would be located seems unearthed. Using such, however, seems strictly prohibited by Genelec ("NEVER connect..."); is that because of the usual safety considerations or is there some technical reason for it as well?

Many thanks.

Another question, if I may:

The F Two sub that I'm considering is because of the volume control that comes inbuilt with it (I will be feeding the speakers directly from a CDP without a volume control, i.e. with no preamp involved). I can see that you also have a separate volume control available that could be used as well, but I want to keep the entire signal path balanced from the source all the way to the amps, and it seems like inserting the separate volume controller into it would not allow me to do this.

Could you please just confirm that this is correct?

Many thanks!

It is because of the usual safety regulations.
