Thank you for all the years of Community discussions and activity!

The time has come for us to retire the community forums, but we will keep everything available for reading. There is a lot of valuable content written over the years, and you'll be able to access all of that. However, no new posts can be written, or old posts modified.

If you have questions, we recommend you use the Support function on the bottom right corner to contact our Customer Support directly.

Alternatively, if you wish to engage in a community discussion with other people, there are many active forums available. There is also an active, fan managed GENELEC COMMUNITY in Facebook, and many Genelec employees are active in the discussions there.

8020A x3 + sub?

Youngling Viestejä: 4 Liittymispäivä: 25.9.2015 Viimeisimmät viestit
I have recently started using a pair of 8020A's in a bedroom approx. 3.5 by 4.5 metres. These speakers are almost against the wall (as close as possible), aimed at the listening position, approx. 1 metre apart. I have no sound proofing or acoustic tiles, and the room has laminate flooring.

1) I've read some reviews, suggesting that I add a subwoofer for mixing. In a room of this size, do I need one? If so, which one, and in what order should I connect them to my Roland VS2480 hardware DAW and/or my Tascam DA3000 2 channel AD/DA ?

2) I was thinking of getting a third 8020A plus a stereo twin jack to single XLRM cable, so I can check mixes in mono for phase and EQ frequency cancellation. Is this a worthwhile venture?

Thanks.

Room size is not the question but do you need the added extension the subwoofer offers? If you are happy with 8020 extension, then you obviously don't need a subwoofer. :)

Signal should be connected so that it goes first into subwoofer and from there to the speakers.

I haven't seen any studio with this kind of configuration. You should be able to force mono signal from your DAW?

It turns out I have to insert an effect into the master fader of the DAW, then turn its "mono switch" on, and display and effect blocks (reverb, delay, etc., etc.)
