8050B vs G5 vs 8250a Differences

Sorry to bother again.
Is G5 a Class D amplifier? Is 8050b a dual Class AB amplifier?
what is difference of sound signature among those 3 speakers ?
Is G5 much more expensive than 8250a?
What are their standard prices?

Does 8050b sounds exactly the same with 8250, except DSP part?
I am so confused about those similar models. :geek:

Thx in advance !

G5 and 8050's are basically the same speaker with different feature sets and input connectors.

The 8250 is essentially the same, BUT it does run the analog signal into an A/D converter for the DSP goodness. The sound signature is for all intents and purposes the same, however the SAM room correction using AutoCal is stunning and provides the most bang for your buck. I specify SAM monitors as my first recommendation to all my clients, you really need to hear it, being told doesn't enlighten you like hearing does.

All three speakers use Class A/B amplifiers for both drivers

Hi,

I am also interested in the differences between 8050B, G Five and 8250 as they are on the short list for my next purchase. I am looking for a pair of near-field monitors for home hifi purposes.

1. Regarding the input signal - I have a Matrix MINI PRO DAC that takes USB, SPIDIF and has an balanced analogue output. Would it degrade audio quality if i would feed the 8250a via balanced analogue in from the DAC instead of digital AES/EBU?

2. Is there any other solution that you would recommend to have various sources (such as a MAC via USB or an audio player via SPDIF) sending digital audio to the digital AES/EBU input of the 8250a?
- What kind of hardware would be required to do that conversion / multiplexing of input?
- How would volume be controller?

Thanks!

Obviously there will be one more DA-AD conversation done using this approach but typically it won't cause any audible difference.

If your source device has for example S/PDIF output, you can use it directly if the cable length to the first speaker is less than 2 meters. If it's longer, you should use an impedance converter, such as:

Volume control depends on our source device. For example if you are using an external sound card, most of them have software volume control. You can also control the volume via our GLM software.
