6010 vs 8010

Youngling Viestejä: 16 Liittymispäivä: 18.7.2015 Viimeisimmät viestit
Hi, first post here.

I'm looking into buying either the 8010 or 8020 monitors.
I've heard the 6010, 8020, 8030 and 8040.
I preferred the 8020 and 8040.
I have yet to hear the 8010 and would like to know if anybody has compared it directly to the 6010 and 8020.

Thanks
Matt

Hi Matt,

it outperforms the 6010 by a considerable margin, it is very close to the performance of an 8020, but obviously won't play as loud, it is a stunning achievement for such a tiny speaker...

Thanks for the reply Steve

I hope to go and listen to the 8010 and 8020 tomorrow and if they have a 7040 sub I will try that also, although I will buy that at a later stage.

Cheers
Matt

I went to my local Genelec dealer, Big bear sound in Dublin today.
I listened to the 8010A with and without the 7050 sub and the 8020 with and without a larger sub(7060?).

I ended up buying the 8010's due to their small size and intend to buy a 7040 sub at a later date.
If I was planning not to use a sub, the larger 8020 would have been better due to the extra bass.

I have the 8010's setup just to test on top of my other monitors about 2.5m apart and 3m from the listening position. They are doing very well considering they are tiny near fields. I'm tempted to adjust my sub to suit the Genelecs to see what they are capable of.

Cheers
Matt
