"F Two" with 5.1 XLR

Hi,

I have currently some G three speakers and is in the market for a subwoofer. The following two subwoofers have a union of properties that I'd appreciate:

F two
Pros: Looks, white color, 5.1 RCA.
Cons: Only stereo XLR (no 5.1).

7050B
Pros: 5.1 XLR.
Cons: Looks are not compatible with our living room, no 5.1 RCA.

The perfect match would be F two with 5.1 XLR connectors in addition to the existing 5.1 RCA connectors, but that product doesn't exist currently. Any chance one of the Genelec representatives are allowed to verify if this is something that is likely to appear in stores later as a new product or an updated F two?

I'm very happy with the G three by the way, so thank you for a great product!

Hi,

F Two with 5.1 XLR won't come because there simply isn't room for so many XLR connectors. Why don't you use the RCA instead? There isn't any drawback in typical home audio installation because the wire lengths are quite short.

Thank you for the quick reply! This is really outside my expertise, so I might be in the wrong here; I thought 10-15 meters were borderline what unbalanced cables could do without risking introducing noise or loosing signal? If 10-15 meters is considered to be a piece of cake for unbalanced cables, I agree there is really no need for XLR.

Have a nice weekend :)

Obviously balanced connection is always more resistant to induced noise and it tolerates longer cable runs, but typically 10-15 meters should not be a problem with high quality (shielded) unbalanced cables. Of course it also depends what sort of noise sources there are, for example you shouldn't run power cables next to the signal cables for several meters.
