Will a sudden loud sound easily damage the speaker?

My speaker is 8020c, when I connects it with my computer the first time I reduced the volume of Windows to about 40% and the speaker to about 60%, but I didn't expect that the sound is very very loud and distorted(later I find out 20% * 30% is the normal volume for near field listening). I turned off the sound immediately. But from that time, I've kept feeling the sound is not so "sweet" as before, I don't know if the feeling is physiological or real.

Will a sudden loud sound easily damage the speaker? Or there is any way to check it out?

Hello,

Our speakers have intelligent protection circuits which will prevent the speaker from damaging itself even in a case of severe misuse. So I am quite confident that the feeling is physiological. :)

Is there a possibility to damage the speakers (G3) by pulling the cable off from the headphone jack of tv, without switching the speakers off?

Never say ever, but typically our speakers are highly resistant to any sort of misuse or noise signals. I wouldn't worry unless you can clearly hear an instant damage (muted tweeter etc).

Really good to know, even if I never do this on a daily basis atleast ;)

I'd like to borrow this thread a little and ask, can the speakers damage if you've attached the signalcable and power cord together, like in a cable sleeve?
