Hello everyone,
My name is Mariano Marabella and I live in Italy,
After a few years of excellent operation in the studio, my beloved 8050A
have betrayed me .... A tweeter suddenly no longer worked.
All this has happened with normal sound pressure levels (from condo) without an apparent cause, no larsen, no white noise and no clipping.
I removed the offending component and measuring it with an Ohm meter measure 4.8 ohms, at this point the driver disassemblo metal dome and I realize the problem cha cause it to malfunction.
The component is not burned electrically but mechanically damaged,
the aluminum dome came off the coil support, I think it was glued with epoxy resin.
I enclose two slides that clarify the detachment of the mobile system with the radiant.
In fact, the component has a proper resistance in DC, but you could paste the centering
the coil in the air gap would not be assured with the result precarious, having to make a long lasting and safe repair is necessary to replace the defective component.

Symbol of the component tweeter:

27TAFD/GBW-G - H1271

I wonder if I should be afraid that in a few weeks I let the other tweeter, in short, I would like to have clarified by design engineers if the defect is attributable all'inve

Thank you and congratulations for your property.

Of course your kind cooperation
Best regards.

My question is: the dome and voice coil support is an integral piece or two bodies are coupled mechanically?
Thanks.

I have answered yourself, are two pieces coupled with a sticker that he broke down and I am going to restore it to proper operation.

Ear all seems ok but not enough for me ..... ;)
Continued testing with CLIO.

Thanks for your time

Hi Marian,

I am sorry to hear about your problems with our products. It is very uncommon for the tweeter to be damaged like that. You seem to be very professional with servicing speakers. Also your testing equipment looks professional. :)

By looking at your pictures, you maybe added little bit too much glue which will affect the sensitivity and resonance frequency of the tweeter unit. You should definitely compare near field frequency response with the other unit and see that they are matched relatively well. I can help you to adjust the tweeter level trimmer if necessary.

Thanks for your kind reply.

With the added mass (0.11 g.) Have kept the resonance frequency almost unchanged and a lowering of the sensitivity of 0.08 dB in the simulation, which is negligible for my applications. ;)
