Thank you for all the years of Community discussions and activity!

The time has come for us to retire the community forums, but we will keep everything available for reading. There is a lot of valuable content written over the years, and you'll be able to access all of that. However, no new posts can be written, or old posts modified.

If you have questions, we recommend you use the Support function on the bottom right corner to contact our Customer Support directly.

Alternatively, if you wish to engage in a community discussion with other people, there are many active forums available. There is also an active, fan managed GENELEC COMMUNITY in Facebook, and many Genelec employees are active in the discussions there.

We are sorry for any possible inconvenience this may cause you, but we hope to hear from you through the other channels mentioned above.

Noise from 8030A monitors, humidity issue

Hello guys, this is Al.

First of all a couple of years ago I got 2 8030a's which had been behaving perfect, unfortunately I had to move and I didn't have no choice that to carrying them as luggage (which means that they were exposed to low temperatures), by the time I got to my new home and took them out, there was certain moisture around, which it goes beyond my control but I understand it is my entire responsibility, anyway, I installed them but both of them sound really distorted and noise, specially with basses and low frequencies (kick punch and beats), I tried different tone sets, cables and connectors just to be sure and confirm that it was, in fact, the monitors, now I have a couple of questions:

If the monitors were exposed to condensation and got affected by it, is it possible to get fixed somehow or are they damaged forever?

Can I bring them to tech support, what would be the closest one to Florida in USA?

If not, is there a way I can fix it myself with the help of someone who knows about general audio troubleshooting?

Thanks in advance, I just want to to anything possible in order for me to save such amazing pieces of gear.

Al

Hi Al,

Of course the speakers can be fixed but it's quite impossible to know how much damage there might be without opening them up. I would recommend you to contact our subsidiary in the US. They will be able to provide you local support.
