Sub for M030's

Youngling Viestejä: 5 Liittymispäivä: 19.11.2013 Viimeisimmät viestit
I have an Av setup using a Denon receiver with Audyssey MultEQ XT which I think is very good. I have x3 M030's and x2 8020 surround and a M&k sub which is a stand-in. Should I look at a 5040 or 7050 sub? Also with the Denon running the Audyssey processing is there any value in connecting this through the sub or use a single LFE input?

Thanks

Hi,

Our recommendation for M030 subwoofer in multichannel setup is the 7060 model. Both 5040 and 7050 do not have sufficient performance to match the output capability of the M030. Also they lack the needed bass management option. Our recommendation is to always use the bass management option found on the subwoofer for the best possible integration and the ease of setup.

I can't stretch to the 7060, will the 5040 or 7050 suffice or would a different brand be a better option?

No, 5040 or 7050 won't suffice in that kind of setup. Unfortunately I can't talk in behalf of other brands.

I'm a bit confused with your reply. I accept the lack of bass management features but using a 7050 and then connecting from the sub to my main speakers will provide better integration than a seperate LFE connected sub? If the 7050 is to bemused with 8020's then what's the issue? The spl and matching outputs will all be handled with the amp.

Typically the bass management on the subwoofer will provide better integration compared to bass management provided by an AV receiver/amp. But the main concern is the lower maximum output capability compared to the main speakers in the system. A set of M030s can provide substantial amount of SPL (much more than for example 8020) where neither 5040 nor 7050 can't keep up with. Of course if you will accept that the subwoofer will be the limiting factor in the system, it is fine to use it even with larger main speakers. But all of our system recommendation are based on the fact that both the subwoofer and speakers can provide approximately same maximum SPL. If you think about an extreme case, it wouldn't make much sense to pair a 5040 subwoofer with our largest main monitor 1036. :)
