8240a GLM = flashing red light

Hi there -- my setup and details of my issue are given below

I. Setup

PC DAW (Win 7) -> Lynx AES16 -> AES cable

II. Issues

1) After rapid cable wizard set-up (stereo pair/single-wire digital) and acoustic calibration using the default Genelec card, both speakers show a continuous flashing red light. No sound when speakers are power cycled. The GLM and AES cabling are correct. Adjusting the attenuation knob and attenuation switches on the back has no effect.

2) When choosing the stereo/dual-wire option, and configuring the cables correctly for stereo pair/dual-wire, the software incorrectly says that I do not have the correct number of speakers for this set-up, and stops.

3) At first, Genelec told me via phone that the problem was a bad digital signal. However, I have replaced the sound card and find the same problem. I am beginning to suspect that something is wrong with one or both of the speakers.

Any insights welcomed; this problem has become tiresome at this point, and I would like to return these speakers if the issue remains unresolved.

Kind regards, Todd

Hi,
I have the 8240A and only encounter flashing red lights when no digital signal is present. Is there any way you can check the connection using a different digital source? Other things to consider: did you set the switches on the speakers correctly, is the signal true single wire, is the Lynx set as clock source?
By the way, I use the s/pdif coax output form an Apogee Ensemble with a Neutrik impedance converter and short AES cables. Works flawless.

Choosing the right input.

Check that you are using the AES/EBU input and not the analogue.

The AES/EBU input is the one towards the centre of the monitor.

Hi guys --

My issue is now resolved! I have the set-up running with dual wire and it is working great. Thank you. As it turned out, the Lynx 16 was sending it's digital signal over tracks three and four, although it was specified as tracks 1 & 2 in the software. Go figure. You were all correct in that the red light was likely flashing because there was no digital signal being transmitted.

REMAINING ISSUE: I still had to set up my dual-wire configuration using the manual wiring mode. Even with the digital signal routed correctly, the quick cabling wizard wouldn't recognize two speakers.

And did you connect the GLM Network Interface:

PC -> USB -> GLM Network Interface -> RJ45 -> speaker A -> RJ45 -> speaker B

Notice that it's the RJ45 cable that controls the speaker volume and uploads DSP settings.
