Hi all, neither would come on today, no lights, no sound, most puzzling, and clearly annoying.

Would it be some kind of power surge? Would I replace the fuses? I'm pretty clueless on the tech side of things, so any help would be most appreciated.

Well actually I wouldn't mind some advice too, since both of my 8030s mysteriously stopped working today. My ones power on but I don't get any sound at all. I'd appreciate some dialogue before I decide to spend a heap of money sending them to be looked at possibly repaired.

Same happened to me on these speakers on our summer cabin last fall. Both stopped working. Just got it verified that there is power coming to the speakers.

Genelec - is it possible, that these speakers have some type of weakness with the power electronics?

Hi Juha,

Since the 8030 model has been in the market since 2004, we would have noticed if there was some typical failure type, but we haven't noticed this. In general Genelec speakers have very long lifetime and very low failure rate.

If you are from Finland, as your username implies, I recommend you to contact our service department for a service request: http://www.genelec.fi/yhteystiedot/ If the speakers are under warranty, repair is of course free of charge.
