Microphone jack replacement.

Padawan Viestejä: 38 Liittymispäivä: 6.6.2013 Viimeisimmät viestit
Good Evening,

This afternoon during a room calibration session I accidentally trip on the microphone cable.
As a result, the jack has been unplugged very brutally from the Genelec Sound-card and is damaged. The Tip of the jack is missing and the ring is also badly bent.

Is the microphone cable detachable and available as a spare part ? If yes how to remove it from the microphone body ?

Or is it possible to cut the cable and to replace the jack. In that case what would be the wire color codes to be used.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi,

Unfortunately the only option is to buy a new microphone. We don't supply spare parts for a damaged microphone. Please contact your local distributor for a price and availability.

Hi Ilkka,

A little update on my accident.

Considering the cost of a new microphone, I decided to take my chance and to try fixing the problem by myself.

Step number 1
I simply cut the microphone wire 2 cm above the molded jack.
Then I checked the quality of the cable which appear to be good (not the kind of cable used for headphone usually impossible to weld).

Step number 2
I started carefully with a knife to cut the jack so that I can determine which wire to weld to the tip, and which to the ring.

Step number 3
I bought stereo jack and welded the cable on it.

Result
After a measurement session, I can confirm that the patient has fully recover :D :D :D

Last but not least : Colour matching are the following : Red to the tip and white to the ring

Hope this can help other Genelec users
