The 7200 series DSP subwoofers have 8 channel in/out but the manuals don't mention all current 7.1 speaker placement configurations.

Why don't the DSP manuals mention the common 7.1 configuration with 3 front/4 surrounds (Dolby/DTS 7.1) as well as the (Sony SDDS 7.1) 5 front/2 surround configuration?


Is it irrelevant for bass management (what configuration any of the speakers are in)?

Does it become relevant for DSP software calculating appropriate delay if the software thinks it's getting a signal from a speaker assigned a different position? e.g. The software think it's getting a signal from a SDDS 7.1 centre right (as opposed to centre or right) positioned speaker when it's actually getting it from a Dolby 7.1 surround rear left positioning?
