8240a set-up for a beginner - help.

Okay I bought a pair of the 8240a DSP monitors after listening to a pair a while ago BUT I cannot get my set up to work. Here is my set-up:

iMac running OSX 10.9
RME Fireface 400
Mutec MC1.1 format converter.

Signal chain is:

SPDIF coaxial to the Mutec MC1.1 format converter > AES to the left monitor.

I have a green light on the left monitor and an orange light on my right monitor and no sound. I ran the AutoCal and room correction and got the 'pink' noise from both monitors - so why no other sounds?

I know I must be doing something really dumb but not sure what - can anyone help?

Hi,

If I understand correctly, you would at least need to connect an XLR cable from the output connector of your left monitor to input connector of your right speaker. Please fix this and try to make a new system setup (stereo pair [digital single wire]) and calibration after that.

Sorry I should have been clearer.

I have the cables set as you have described.

I think I have tracked down the problem, but I have no idea on how to solve it. The GLM software is not the issue, the issue is between the OSX10.9 Mavericks audio midi set up and the RME Fireface.

I have confirmation from RME that the FF400 with the latest drivers is compatible with OSX10.9 but the problem is get no sound from the Mac / DAW from any output on the RME FF400 not even through the headphones output.

I can get audio through my iMacs speakers but when I select the FF400 I get the red host light flashing telling me there is a problem, but I have no idea what the problem is. I cannot even get audio playback via iTunes from the RME.
