Input Sensitivity of 6010B?

Youngling Viestejä: 2 Liittymispäivä: 16.10.2013 Viimeisimmät viestit
Hello,
what is the input sensitivity of the 6010B? My RME Babyface has +15dbu output which seems too much for the 6010Bs so i probably need cables with a attenuator soldered in but i cannot find anything in the 6010Bs manual.
Thanks

6010B input sensitivity is defined so that it gives 90 dB SPL output with -6dBu signal. But it is not a problem with RME Babyface. +15 dBu is its maximum output but it is not fixed because it has variable volume control. You can also add additional attenuation through its mixer if the default setting is too high (volume control seems too sensitive).

Yes, you're absolutely right, but every time you power on the Babyface (i.e. start your computer, since it's bus powered) you get a very loud pop-sound through the speakers which is probably near fullscale and therefore +15dbu. Unfortunately the Babyface does not mute it's outputs when it's powering up. I fear that this pop-sound may damage the 6010Bs so I'd like to match the levels correctly.
It would also be a solution to first start the computer and then power the Genelecs on but that's not a very user friendly solution to always think about the right "power-on-order".
