F Two receiving radio signals

Youngling Viestejä: 11 Liittymispäivä: 6.6.2012 Viimeisimmät viestit
Hello!

My subwoofer F Two is receiving radio signals which can be heard through my 8030s even though the main volume is muted on the subwoofer. Its like the subwoofer works like an antenna which receive radio stations and transmits the audio through the speakers.

I assume that the radio signals comes from the F Two since the radio signals is only heard when the subwoofer is turned on. Is there a way to get rid of this problem? I did not have this problem when I had the 5051a connected

Btw, love the F Two! Couldn´t be more satisfied with the design and quality.

Sincerely
Martin

Hi Martin,

Now that sounds really strange! I have a few questions:

1) Can you tell me the manufacturing date (printed on the serial sticker) of your 8030 speakers? It may be that the speakers are defective.
2) Is the F Two located identically to the 5051?
3) Has anything changed with the cabling when you changed the subwoofer?
4) Is it AM or FM and which frequency?

1) "WM6102665 Feb 12". They don't receive any radio signals while they're unattached to the F Two, they work perfectly.
2) Yes it is, but I can try to connect the 5051a again to crosscheck whether it is a problem that has recently occurred or not. Either way as far as I remember this did not happen with the 5051a.
3) No, I use XLR from the subwoofer to the monitors and RCA-in on the subwoofer from my Mac.
4) Its FM-signals. I think 93.60Mhz or something in between. I can determine which channel I hear, since it is "NRK P3" (One of the Norwegian public broadcaster´s radio channels) and it is located in around 93.60Mhz.

Could also be that our tv/radio-channel coaxial connector in the wall is not shielded or not correctly mounted.
I discovered that there´s only radio-audio through the right speaker. And I tried to switch the XLRs to the opposite connectors, and it is still the right speaker and some signal through the left monitor. When both XLR cables are unplugged the problem is gone... so I believe that it is still something that has to do with the F Two. Its not a major problem so its not a big deal if theres no solution :)

Sorry, forgot the serial number of the other 8030! (This is the speaker that leaks signals)
"WM6102687 Feb 12"

I will come back as soon as I have tested the 5051 again, and in worst case try to set up my Genelecs in another room :)

Does it make any difference if you unplug the XLR from the subwoofer or the speaker end?

So is it always the right speaker making the noise no matter which connector it's connected on the subwoofer? Or is it always the monitor connected to the right output on the subwoofer which is making the noise?

Hello again! :)

I found the cause of my problem! I believed that the XLR-cables picked up radio frequency somehow. The cables Im using now were made at a local music store on demand because I wanted a length they didn´t have in stock, and I guess that is why they're not correctly shielded. Just a human error. I figured this out by changing the cable with a manufactured cable and the radio audio was gone :D

But thank you so much for fast reply and really good service!

Best regards from
Martin

Oh, I am so glad it was the cable instead of our subwoofer. :D
