Genelec 6010a+5040 audio level fluctuating

Hi, i have these speakers + Beresford Dac. Now the volume of my speakers have again started to fluctuate (previously about a year ago). The thing is that fluctuating is quite random, and so its hard to rule out possible reasons. I´m quite sure it isnt about the DAC because i have never heard the fluctuating with my headphones. I have also changed the optical cable. I have also tried winamp instead of iTunes. Im just wondering is the fluctuating produced by my Genelecs. Could it be possible that the volume remote is broken? Or does it have something to do with the current/voltage? Something else? Last time the fluctuating stopped itself when i did all kinds of tests.

Hi Lasse,

That sounds really strange. I don't recall a similar problem with anyone else. Of course it can be the speakers or the subwoofer (you have routed the signal through the sub, I assume?), but of course also any other device in the signal chain. It is also very difficult to debug if it only happens once a year.

Volume remote shouldn't cause any fluctuation as it doesn't send any signal to the subwoofer unless the buttons are pressed. Also normal voltage fluctuations do not affect the volume level.

I think that the problem was with the remote, because after disconnecting it the fluctuation has ended. Now I use the the volume controller of DAC instead and everything has been OK for a week now.

Hi,

Ok, I though you had the new version with the RF volume controller. I'm so sorry to hear about the problem. If the subwoofer is still under warranty, you can naturally have a new volume controller being sent to you.
