Genelec 8050B Wall Mounting

Youngling Viestejä: 1 Liittymispäivä: 19.11.2010 Viimeisimmät viestit
Hi, I'm considering wall mounting a pair of 8050B's in my home studio.

It's just a normal plasterboard wall, will this work ok, or can this only be done with "solid" walls?

I already have a large flat screen monitor wall mounted in there which is fine, but am worried the 8050's may be too heavy.

What do you guys think?

Thanks!

Hi,

It is not recommended to wall mount speaker to a plasterboard alone. You should always have a solid wood frame behind it, where you can attach the fixing screws firmly.

Just got a pair of used 8050A and will probably try to wall mount them. Is 800-402b (km 24475) the right mount for 8050? And will it really hold up those heavy speakers? It says no T plate for 8050, correct? So just two mounting points in the back of the speaker? Enough?

I also wonder if you will be able to adjust the dip switches after the monitor is attached to the wall, is there enough room to reach them back there?

Thanks,

Johan

Hi!

The 8000-402 wall mount can be used with 8050 and it has been designed for that purpose. No T-plate is needed and the mount is attached to the speaker cabinet with 2 M6 bolts, that can hold the load with plenty of safety margin. DIP switches are still available, you may need a small mirror and thin tool to reach them, but it is fully doable.
