5051a vs F Two

Hello!

I already have the 5051a and I'm very satisfied! My parents also have a Genelec system in the living room, and they want to extend the system with a subwoofer. I came across the new F Two which is a bit more expensive than the 5051a, what is the difference between those two? :)

With best regards
Martin

Hello Martin,

5051A has been replaced with F Two subwoofer which has an equal performance plus an ISS function which will put the subwoofer to a stand-by mode after one hour of inactivity, and will automatically wake it up when signal is being detected. Also the LED colour has been changed from green to white. The default input sensitivity is 10 dB lower but there is a dip switch to match it with for example 8000 series speakers.

Which Genelec speaker models do your parents have?

Ok, with 8030A's the +10dB input sensitivity switch should be used for proper gain matching.

Thank you so much for the help :)
Should that be done on the 5051a as well?

No because 5051A has the same input sensitivity (as a default setting) as 8030A.

Hi Ilkka,

You say:

5051A has been replaced with F Two subwoofer which has an equal performance plus an ISS function which will put the subwoofer to a stand-by mode after one hour of inactivity, and will automatically wake it up when signal is being detected.

The manual for the 5051A, however, says:

The 5051A is equipped with an automatic signal sensing function that switches the subwoofer to stand-by mode if no signal is present in the audio input for approximately one hour. The subwoofer resumes playback automatically when it detects an audio signal being fed into any of the input connectors.

So, the only difference between the 5051A and the F Two is the LED colour and the default input sensitivity?

Hi Otso,

I stand corrected! The 5051A indeed also has the ISS function.
