Recommendation for stereo/2.1 music system
Youngling Viestejä: 2 Liittymispäivä: 2.3.2013 Viimeisimmät viestitI'll be using my Mac Mini with an offboard RAID-1 disk system (the music is stored as Apple Lossless) as a source. DAC is a Benchmark Media DAC-1 HDR. Based on what I know now, possible speaker systems would be a G Four with F2 subwoofer, or 8050A with a matching subwoofer (I like organ music).
I haven't found dealers or reviews on any of the G or F series. Reviews of the 8050 are uniformly positive, and these are available at many locations. What other Genelec systems might be suitable for high-quality music listening? I have no intentions of setting up a home theatre. I won't be in a huge room, either. I simply want the best sound possible from a reasonable investment.
I'm also looking into the Aperion Audio systems. These get good reviews and are also noted as being a great value. I'm willing to spend money, but there's no reason to go overboard. And I'd need an amp, which opens another can of worms.

Yoda Viestejä: 2564 Liittymispäivä: 23.3.2009 Viimeisimmät viestitall Genelec systems are suitable for high quality music listening, it all depends on your requirements and budget of course. What kind of systems have you had before?
Where are you located at? Do you know where your nearest dealers are? Please ask more information about them from your local distributor: http://www.genelec.com/shop/distributors-network/

Re: Recommendation for stereo/2.1 music system
Youngling Viestejä: 2 Liittymispäivä: 2.3.2013 Viimeisimmät viestitI've had many different systems through the years. Started with an old turntable connected to a Voice of Music tape recorder (this was in 1970) and progressed from there. Thorens TD125, Harman-Kardon Citation 11 and 16 with JBL L-100 served for many years. Then I started moving around. Ended up with Cambridge Soundworks' original Ensemble speakers driven by a Sony ES-line power amp and a Benchmark DAC-1 HDR.
The combination of a bad listening environment (very hard room) with lots of outside noise led me to use headphones for most of my listening (Denon AH-D7000) so I lost interest in upgrading the speakers. Now I'm thinking of buying a house, and that would give me an environment conducive to listening to music with speakers.
It sounds as if the main consideration in buying a Genelec system is the size of the room I'll be using. I won't know that until I buy a house.
I'm in southern California USA. I've looked for Genelec dealers but not found any. I'll try the site you mentioned.
Thank you.

Youngling Viestejä: 2 Liittymispäivä: 9.3.2013 Viimeisimmät viestitAre there any technical reason why I can't use this combination?
All speakers accept unbalanced connection (rca, conversion from balanced to unblanced is simply too). Cable lenths are less than 6m in system.
G Tree goes down to 55Hz and F One filters out below 85Hz, but in apartment house I can't use that 150W that
F Two can delivery. Same is with very low frequencies.
I can adust system rather well because I have Behringer DEQ2496 (master processor with several EQ's, pink noise generator etc. and ECM8000 measurement microphone for IEC measurements).
F 1 seems to bee the the same as 5040, is that correct?

Yoda Viestejä: 2564 Liittymispäivä: 23.3.2009 Viimeisimmät viestitG Three and Subwoofer F1.
Are there any technical reason why I can't use this combination?
It is not a recommended combination because the F1 is underpowered for the G Threes, meaning its maximum SPL capability is much lower than the G Three can produce.
F 1 seems to bee the the same as 5040, is that correct?
They share a lot of technology but they are not 100% identical.
