GLM for Mac improvement suggestions
Youngling Viestejä: 6 Liittymispäivä: 28.9.2011 Viimeisimmät viestitBugs
– When my iMac 27" (Late 2009) enters suspension mode after inactivity and I log back in, my already running GLM has lost connection to GLM's USB-interface. I need to re-plug the cable and restart GLM. And re-choose the settings. That is annoying - too many clicks!

Suggested features
– Autostart app without manually connecting and reloading settings every single startup
– Menubar functionality as alternative and with controls as menubar drop list. With Sound level indicator to menubar and Dock icon off -setting
General view of GLM's current state of UI development
To put it bluntly I was amazed to see how your app for Mac users seemed unfinished. As a company of your calibre I was expecting more finished touch. Nothing too fancy needed though.
Not that GLM doesn't work, but the workflow doesn't feel convenient for me. I like fine tuning my desktop environment and eliminate all unnecessary Dock icons other than my running apps actively at use. Your system should functions as a back-in process, and it should start up without any clicks unless I need to change settings then at the Menubar or by the UI.
Go ahead people and let's give Genelec a boost of collective vision for making better user experience for us Mac users!

Were Genelec needing User Interface design expertise, I'm available

Padawan Viestejä: 99 Liittymispäivä: 18.6.2011 Viimeisimmät viestitI was was demoing my surround rig for a large number of people when I found out it didn't work

I have tried updating X11 several times as recommended, but I must have messed it up.
Guys, please do away with the junk programming of the GLM for the MAC, everything else you do is so professional.
Thanks

Re: GLM for Mac improvement suggestions
Padawan Viestejä: 99 Liittymispäivä: 18.6.2011 Viimeisimmät viestitIt's been so long, but initially I think it was at the start of calibration.
My efforts seam to have improved the situation, so now the calibration goes through unless I ask it to calibrate phase in the end.
It says ERROR and that it has lost network connection to a speaker.
Funny, because GLM has just "sweapt" all speakers before the crash.
I keep my sub at the rear and only use it for rear speakers below 85hz and LFE so I'll survive.
Still bugs me just the same.

The X11 problem has not been fixed.
Padawan Viestejä: 99 Liittymispäivä: 18.6.2011 Viimeisimmät viestitI just had a setup playing for 200 people, and I couldn't calibrate as GLM kept crashing due to X11 issues.
I'm the biggest 8260 fan in the world, but this gets under my skin.
Guys, wake up, please fix this f***ing amateur programming!

Thanks

Yoda Viestejä: 2564 Liittymispäivä: 23.3.2009 Viimeisimmät viestitI am so sorry to hear about your problems with GLM. I can ensure you that each and every version of GLM (both PC and Mac) go through comprehensive beta testing to iron out any bugs before they are released to public.
We know that X11 has caused issues with some people but there is also a much greater number of systems where it works without a glitch!
One issue is with multiple X11 installations. You should check from "Applications/Utilities/" if you have multiple X11 installations. You should only have one that is version 2.7.2 or newer from: http://xquartz.macosforge.org/trac/wiki/Releases

Re: GLM for Mac improvement suggestions
Padawan Viestejä: 43 Liittymispäivä: 10.2.2014 Viimeisimmät viestitat first I didn't know where to start but managed to brainstorm a couple of improvements for OS X that would be very appreciated:
Integrate "GLM Autolink" into "GLM"
Rebuild how we configure hardware controllers to control GLM volume, calibration setting, mute, etc.
Make application(s) less buggy (eg. calibration settings not loading, double settings appearing etc.)
Remove unexpected behavior in application(s) and make it more intuitive (eg. how GLM Autolink Minimize option works or how GLM Autolink changes my settings after I restart and other weird stuff I have worked-around)
Free the user to use any shortcut he wants to control GLM
Enable support for scroll wheels to change volume in a way that makes it configurable (in an understandable and useable way) to change the speed of how the scroll wheel changes the volume so that a e.g. a ShuttleXpress could be configured in a desirable way.
Add more advanced graphical volume overlays that only appear when the volume is actually being changed and in that situation hovers over active applications (much like OS X native volume rocker graphics but with a db-meter) Also add this for changing Calibration settings with the text/graphic stating the Calibration setting has been changed and to what setting it has been changed
Add a useable and understandable way for how to configure the speed at which volume +/- is enacted
Add option to add a hotkey that cycles between GLM-calibration (one that goes forwards and one that goes backwards)
Enable interface to sort and interact with set calibrations in a better way.
Add option to lower/raise volume by a defined number of db with a hotkey.
Add option to automatically switch OS X Khz output (today manually controlled in MIDI settings in OS X)
Improve combability with OS X and make GLM and GLM Autolink one real native application
Generally improve UX and UI.
Thank you,

Trade-in for GLM 2.0
Padawan Viestejä: 99 Liittymispäivä: 18.6.2011 Viimeisimmät viestitPlease ask your CEO to allow us a fair trade-in for GLM 2.0 upgrades.
We have been more than patient with years of problems with GLM 1.X Mac.
Just give us a fair deal.
Thanks in advance
. . and looking forward to test-driving the GLM 2.0
