5.1 Autocal

Hi,

Thanks for this great forum. I have a question about how AutoCal works in a 5.1 system.

Does AutoCal set the subwoofer/monitor crossover point and the low pass and high pass filters automatically?

This of course would be with all Genelec products in the system.

Thanks,

Las Vegas

Hi,

Yes, the AutoCal will set the crossover point and filters automatically. It also adjusts for best possible phase. If the selected crossover point doesn't please the user or he just wants to use a different setting, the crossover can be set between 50 - 100 Hz in 5 Hz increments.

Thanks Ilkka,

I thought AutoCal would do that. It gets more useful each time I research it.

I'm also wondering about the frequencies that AutoCal works in. Will it attenuate frequencies up to 20Khz?

Thanks again,

Also,

Are there any plans to include 12V triggers on any models other than the 8260?

Thanks very much,

LasVegas

I found my answer to the frequencies that AutoCal works in. I'm still wondering about the inclusion of 12 V triggers on other monitors.

The AutoCal works below 2 kHz.

At the moment all 4000 series speakers (naturally also the upcoming 4040A) include a 12V trigger. I can't promise that we would include them on other models, but once the ErP related auto start / auto shut down function becomes mandatory by the end of this year, at least many users won't require additional trigger any more.

Are you referring to a signal-sensing circuit? A lot of consumer subwoofers use this to turn themselves on when they receive a line-level signal.

Yes, I am referring to that same function.
