Genelec Community Forum has been archived

Thank you for all the years of Community discussions and activity!

The time has come for us to retire the community forums, but we will keep everything available for reading. There is a lot of valuable content written over the years, and you'll be able to access all of that. However, no new posts can be written, or old posts modified.

If you have questions, we recommend you use the Support function on the bottom right corner to contact our Customer Support directly.

Alternatively, if you wish to engage in a community discussion with other people, there are many active forums available. There is also an active, fan managed GENELEC COMMUNITY in Facebook, and many Genelec employees are active in the discussions there.

We are sorry for any possible inconvenience this may cause you, but we hope to hear from you through the other channels mentioned above.

GLM software breaks other applications on the Mac

The GLM software specifically sets the environment variable DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH. This environment variable being set to a specific value then causes certain other applications to fail to find certain libraries. (I am running GLM on a Mac Pro 12 CPU core under OS X 10.6.8 with 32GB of RAM.)

Specifically, GLM sets DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH to:

/Library/Application Support/Genelec/GLM/DSPi/lib/v77/runtime/maci:/Library/Application Support/Genelec/GLM/DSPi/lib/v77/sys/os/maci:/Library/Application Support/Genelec/GLM/DSPi/lib/v77/bin/maci:/System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/JavaVM:/System/Library/Frame$

This then causes, for example, the Gigapan Stitch image processing software to fail when invoked from the command line in Terminal.

The workaround is to issue the command:

unset DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH

I believe the use of explicit settings of DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH is not recommended, rather the explicit path should be used in GLM. If this is the case, could GLM be changed please?

Thanks in advance
Andy
