1032a troubleshooting

Hello

In am new to the forums, so i am not sure where this topic should go....

I have had for the last 10 years the 1032A 2-Way Bi-Amplified Active Studio Monitors. They are excellent!

For the last 3 or 4 months i have been receiving some static sound from my left monitor each time i adjust the volume on my Pro-Tools.. This static noise goes away after 5-10 minutes, once the monitors are warmed up... The speakers play fine...

Today when i was mastering some songs, my left monitor lost all sound.
The green power light is switched on, with no clipping.. but when i turn up the volume it is constantly clipping. Either way, clipping or no clipping, the speaker emits no sound.

What seems to be the problem, pre-amp, crossover? What component should i buy and where can i buy it>?

I would really like to know what the problem could be, since the representatives of Genelec in Portugal are not very trustworthy and they charge an arm and leg for everything..

Thank you for your time..

Josh

Hello Josh,

Unfortunately it's impossible for anyone to say the exact component or components that need to be changed, and therefore the speaker most definitely needs professional service. In any case you shouldn't try to service the speaker by yourself.

I'm not sure what you mean by our Portuguese distributor not being trustworthy. Professional service is quite expensive but then again we at least are providing service to even the oldest Genelec speakers like S30 and alike, in contrary to many other manufacturers nowadays. :)
