mobile phone interference

Youngling Viestejä: 9 Liittymispäivä: 24.2.2011 Viimeisimmät viestit
Hello,

I have (...and love) the 8040, but I often have a buzzing noise due to mobile phone interference on them.
I have connected them via symmetrical XLR.

Two questions:

1. does the monitor take harm in any way when I hear this buzz noise caused by mobile phones on them?
2. is there a way to prevent this interference with shielding or something like that?

best regards

Hello,

Usually it's not as much the speaker as the incoming signal line that is picking up the mobile phone interference noise. But since you hear the noise coming out of the speaker, it automatically points you to that direction. :) You can easily test it by disconnecting the signal cable from the speaker. See if the noise will disappear or at least attenuate.

But then to your questions:

1) No, there is no harm done.

2) If it's the signal lines that are picking up the noise, then some re-routing of the lines could possibly help.

Hi,

Some kind of ferrite cable clamp might help. Check digikey or whatever shop you like.
You often see them on interconncects. They should be placed as close to the speaker as possible.
They aren't expensive, so you can experiment with putting them on signal and mains cable.

You could also try these filtered XLR connectors. I have no experience of using them.

I also have the 8040 and have been quite happy with it. I have been using it for and it has been working very well. I was also getting some interference noise on my monitor, but after doing some rerouting the noises have ceased after I set up my through a tool called. It really solved the problem of the interference. Hope you are able to correct this minor inconvenience on a great product.
