Thank you for all the years of Community discussions and activity!

The time has come for us to retire the community forums, but we will keep everything available for reading. There is a lot of valuable content written over the years, and you'll be able to access all of that. However, no new posts can be written, or old posts modified.

If you have questions, we recommend you use the Support function on the bottom right corner to contact our Customer Support directly.

Alternatively, if you wish to engage in a community discussion with other people, there are many active forums available. There is also an active, fan managed GENELEC COMMUNITY in Facebook, and many Genelec employees are active in the discussions there.

We are sorry for any possible inconvenience this may cause you, but we hope to hear from you through the other channels mentioned above.

1029a PSU

One of my 1029a monitors died this morning. It started up OK and the power light went out while playing music (it was monitoring the RH channel so the LH channel kept playing and I didn't notice right away).

I tried changing the power cable but it doesn't work with a cable powering something else and the cable it had works with something else so I'm confident there is a fault in the power supply of the unit. I did not detect any smoke or burning smell coming from it.

The monitor is over 10 years old, so I'm reluctant to send it off for repair. Is the PSU accessible for service/repair? Is there a schematic available? As I have a working unit to compare it to, it makes sense to try a repair myself. I have access to a meter and a soldering iron.

Any advice appreciated.

Cheers
Tim

I just did another search of this forum and found an incorrectly titled thread that may be very useful:

Will open mine up later for a look.

Cheers
