Painting my Genelec 8240A's?

Hi all. Since my first post here where I asked for help to decide which Genelec model I should buy, I have now bought a pair of 8240's and waiting for them to arrive. :)

Now the problem is, that it is the champagne colour and that colour doesnt fit the other colours in my room  .

So I was curious if it was posible to paint the case of 8240's (you know only the sides of the cabinet). Would painting in some way ruin or hurt the sound :?: or doesnt painting it affect anything at all. :)

Thank you for your time to answer my questions.

Best regards,

M.U.

Hi,

In general it is not recommended to paint the cabinets. If you want to do it properly, you would need to disassemble the speaker so that each cabinet half can be painted separately. Also every surface that doesn't require paint, needs to protected carefully. Basically it's a tough job if good end result is wanted.

But since you asked, you should use a normal 1-component alkyd paint, not a strong 2-component paint.

Hi Ilkka :)

Thank you for your reply. I think I will wait and see, maybe I will get to like the colour.

Btw why did Genelec choose to make it that "special" champagne colour :?: :D

Best regards,
