PA HT ... need help

I need to add something to my two 8030A Genelecs that I like really very much.
If anybody can help me is really kind.
I can't decide how to proceed.

The project is about PA quality + HT, but with consumer usability (from Linux PC and PS3):
http://www.opensurf.it/PA_HT.pdf
http://www.opensurf.it/PA_HT.odp
HT can be seen like a funny option and can be not really complete.
Instead I prefer to have stereo+sub really nice.
I know that Soundcraft Notepad 124FX is not enough good for Genelec, sorry (Mackie Onyx 1640i is a little expensive).
Also maya444usb soundcard is not the right one, but I need Linux compatible usb ones and I have found that one by now.
The first thing I'd like is to buy new speaker and mixer to allow usability and little of HT setup.

So, now I have many contraints, due to the fact that I live in a house and not in a studio, indeed.
I live in a attic, lower part 1.7m, higher 3.7, sides: 4x5.7
I have (1.7+3.7)*4/2*5.7
61.560 mq
(There is a long corridor large 1m and high 3.7 starting from one corner of the room).

It is very nice the guide to choose speaker, but I'm not sure if I can put 8030A close to the wall + 7060B sub.
Here it seems correct ( http://www.genelecusa.com/ht/learning-c ... ngwithsub/ ) instead looking at 7060B Operating manual at page 3 it seems not correct ( http://www.genelec.com/documents/opmans/OM7000_2.pdf ).

Another point I'm not sure is the freq response of 7060B (it goes down to 29hz or 19hz) ?
I'd like to buy everytime the best component, and I'm afraid that to have a real sub I should get 7070A.
Another idea is to have sub 7060B (7070A costs too much) and get 8040A and put 8030A as rears.
Another idea is not to have sub and get 8050A (35Hz) and put 8030A as rears.
Again I'm not sure about the possibility to put 8050A monsters close to the wall.
Another idea, looking at step-by-Step guide ( http://www.genelec.com/documents/other/step_by_step.pdf ) it seems nice to base my system only on 8030A and 7060B (61mq are not too much)
So I could buy 2x8030A and one 7060B.
I'll add in a second step another 8030A for the center trying to complete ITU-R BS.775-1 5.1 setup

Finally I'm not sure if using PROFESSIONAL MONITORING speakers instead of CUSTOM INSTALL series is a good idea.
Hoping to get some help ....

Hi Raffaele,

A lot of questions, but hopefully I can touch at least some of them. :)

-7060B goes down to 19 Hz. 29 Hz spec was for the older 7060A model.

-You can put the speakers (no matter what model) close to the back wall because you can use the bass tilt and bass roll-off dip switches to compensate for the boundary loading. With smaller models the back wall will cause more problems because of the reflections at higher frequencies which will get better if you acoustically treat the back wall. In any case some acoustical treatment (bass traps at least) should be used to improve the acoustics.

-If you want to use the system as small PA, I would invest in larger speakers rather than small speakers + sub. That way you will get more SPL with that kind of material/source.

-Using professional monitors in your application is perfectly OK.

Hi Ilkka,
you are very kind.
Today I'm going to listen 8050A from a private vendor.
I hope that at least in four years I will need to go below 35hz.
Also I will put 8050A on the wall, having less trouble than 8040A+7060B (no space where to put sub on the floor).
I'll keep you informed.

I have listened 8050A speakers.
Very very nice.
Maybe depending on a different setup it seemed that 8030A sound is more clear (treble).
It was only an impression.
Anyway, tomorrow I'll be able to listen 8060B.
I think that loosing frequency from 35hz to 19hz is not nice for my purposes.
I'd prefer real bass.

Raffaele
