7050A and 8020 ?

Youngling Viestejä: 4 Liittymispäivä: 17.2.2010 Viimeisimmät viestit
I saw in an advert that the discontinued 7050a subwoofer is compatible with 8020s, but in the online 7050 docs it says that it is only for 1029 or 2029 though elsewhere it states that 8030s and 8130s can be used with it.

If i only want stereo will I get a true response from 7050A with 8020s?

Thanking you
eromain

Hello,

Thanks for your post and question. First, the stereo 7050A is fully compatible with the 8020's. In fact the 7050B (the multichannel version of the A model) is also perfectly compatible with 8020B, 8030A and 8130A.

So, you can go ahead with your suggested stereo system combining 8020's and 7050A.

Now, regarding the various models recommendation for the 7050A on our website, there a simple explanation: the 7050A was manufactured at the time we had 1029A and 2029A in production. The 8000 Series did not exist yet. Then, our documentation was updated with our latest model offering, which are the 8030A and 8130A replacing the older models mentioned above. Sorry for the possibly confusing message. Hope it is understandable now.

Best regards,

Thanks Christophe,

Can I simply use a splitter cable to take two feeds from my desk and send 1 to the 7050A and 1 to the 8020Bs.

Apart from possible earth hum is there any problem with doing this?

Thanks in advance
Eugene

Hello,

The correct connection scheme is to send the stereo output signal from your source into the 8020A inputs (I suppose you have the A model) and then take the outputs of the 8020A and feed it to the 7050A.

More information are available in the products' Quick Setup Guides and Operating Manuals.

with a setup comprising a 7050A and 8020Bs would using a splitter cable be ok or would it compromise the sound in anyway?

Hello,

Thanks for your reply. Yes, a splitter cable is the only way to go with a combination of 7050A and 8020B, since the 8020B has no outputs.

In setting the DIP switch 2 ON in both 8020B's, the crossover region between the main loudspeakers and the subwoofer will be just fine and smooth.

Thanks,

I am not very technical so can you confirm that a splitter cable is as good technically a solution as having the proper outputs to use?

Hello,

Yes, I can confirm this. To use a quality splitter cable is as good technically as using the outputs of the main loudspeakers. Always remember to use as short as possible cables - this is a general rule for all connections.
